MYOB Accounting Plus is an accounting package that has been put together specifically to assist smaller sized businesses that offer service and need to keep track of inventory. Although if you are used to a software application which offers support for LIFO or FIFO then you may be disappointed as there is no such support offered in MYOB. There are, however, quite a few other strengths in this popular award winning product.

When I first starting looking through the MYOB website I was amazed at how many MYOB flavours there are. I also noted that the site is comprehensive enough to offer sufficient information for the average small business owner to select the right flavour to suit their particular business. If your hankering for some accounting software to help you run your business take a look at some of the other MYOB products that are available here. There is also an "Accounting 101" section to bring you up to speed with the latest accounting practices. Well worth a visit.

So, just what does MYOB Accounting Plus have to offer? The answer is ... Quite a lot! For a start you can create orders, quotes, invoices, receipts, statements and calculate GST. Save invoices as recurring, save default preferences for your clients AND customise all stationery to print incorporating your brand. I'm no accountant but this all sounds good to me. Lets look at some of the other features.

A feature laden package it may be but MYOB is geared toward independent contractors and small business owners who may not have a sophisticated understanding of current accounting practices, it's important that the software be easy to understand and use for these people. MYOB's user interface doesn't disappoint in this area. And, for that matter installation of the package was suitably painless as well.

 

In the next few months I plan on getting to know MYOB a little better and I also plan on taking a closer look at that other major small business accounting package Quicken Books. But for now I am giving MYOB Accounting Plus a thumbs up as a comprehensive package that offers everything most small businesses would need in an accounting software package.
